Join the Yorktown High School Theatre Program!

Whether or not you have acting or technical theatre experience,
there is a place for you in the Yorktown Theatre Program.

If you don’t have any theatre experience and want to learn about theatre, collaboration and communication skills, sign up for Theatre Arts I.  Theatre I is an introductory course where students build a foundation in teamwork, ensemble acting, voice, movement, improvisation, scene study, character analysis and more.  No sitting at desks and listening to a lecture – theatre classes are active and fun!

If you have some theatre experience and want to go more in depth into acting, directing and playwriting, audition for Theatre Arts II.  The class is a skills-development course that builds on Theatre I where students learn about acting, characterization, auditioning, playwriting, directing and self-development.  At the end of the school year, this class produces a contemporary American play, performed in the Yorktown auditorium!

If you aren’t an actor but want to be part of the Yorktown Theatre team – sign up for an interview to take the Technical Theatre class.  This is an introductory course designed to expand the student’s knowledge and skills in technical theatre, including lighting, sound, set design, costuming, props, and stage management.  These students also provide technical support for a variety of theatrical events within the school.
