Audition Call for "The Crucible"

Large Mixed Cast Wanted to Reveal Hidden Agendas of the Salem Witch Trials

YHS Theatre's Fall 2024 play will be The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is Miller's dramatization of the witch-hunt and trials that besieged the Puritan community of Salem in 1692.

The Setting

In this small, tight-knit community, gossip and rumor spread like wildfire, inflaming personal grievances until no one is safe from accusation and vengeance.

The Subtext

Seen as a chilling parallel to the McCarthyism and repressive culture of fear that gripped America in the 1950s, the play's timeless relevance and appeal remain as strong as when the play first opened on Broadway in 1953.
